Meta Ad Sizes and Specs Cheat Sheet (2026)

Getting an ad rejected or cropped wrong because of the wrong aspect ratio is one of the most avoidable mistakes in paid social. Here's every dimension that actually matters for Meta (Facebook and Instagram) in 2026.

Image ads

  • Feed (Facebook and Instagram): 1080 x 1080px (1:1) or 1080 x 1350px (4:5). The taller 4:5 ratio takes up more vertical space in-feed and generally gets better attention.
  • Stories and Reels: 1080 x 1920px (9:16). Keep key text and your CTA inside the safe zone, roughly 250px from the top and 250px from the bottom, since profile icons and captions sit there.
  • Right column (desktop only): 1080 x 1080px, though this placement barely matters anymore given how little desktop right-column traffic converts.

Video ads

  • Feed: 1:1 or 4:5, same as image feed placements. Keep it under 60 seconds for feed; shorter almost always outperforms longer here.
  • Stories and Reels: 9:16, minimum resolution 1080 x 1920px. Reels specifically reward native-feeling, vertical-first content over repurposed square video.

File and copy limits worth knowing

  • Image file size: Max 30MB, but keep it well under that for faster load times. JPG or PNG.
  • Primary text: No hard character limit anymore, but anything past 125 characters gets truncated behind a "See more," so front-load your hook.
  • Headline: 27-40 characters displays cleanly across placements without truncation.

The practical takeaway

Design for 4:5 first if you only have budget for one static format. It's the safest default across the most placements, and Adsoby generates every size from the same brand-consistent creative automatically, so you're never manually resizing the same ad five different ways.
